Choice Theories
Xcom200 - Choice theory, the new theory of how our brain functions that supports reality therapy, directly challenges this belief.
Xcom 200 - Choice theories are also known as: survival, love and belonging, power, freedom and fun. This is what people think about when making a decision, either to commit a crime or not. Choice theories can also determine the way a person thinks about themselves and others around them, do they care about what happens or not? We decided on how to act upon or happiness or un happiness by using these four choice theory behaviors, depending on how we feel. “Choice theories state that the decision to commit (or refrain from) crime is an exercise of free will based on the offender’s efforts to maximize pleasure and minimize pain”, Keel, R. O. (1997).
Cja204 - Rational Choice and Deterrence Theory. Many people make conscious decisions for their actions while committing a crime. There are two rational choices models, one is to see rationality as internal consistency of choice and the second one is to identify rationality with maximization of self-interest ,(Sen, 1987, p. 12), (Zsolnai, 1998). Most individuals will consider the crime and weigh out the consequences before committing a crime. Most criminals commit crimes because the benefits weigh out the consequences in the act of crime they are committing. Society determines certain acts are criminal by the how they feel about the crime they have committed, and to what extent was the crime. Cja 204
